Times are tough, and reading can be a wonderful escape. The folks over at Wattpad are participating in the #ReadTogether initiative. There are a number of fantastic stories available on the platform to dive into, and I wanted to highlight some of my current favorites. I also wanted to talk a bit why reading is important to me!
Reading has always been an escape for me. When it felt like the world was crashing around me, I could dive into a good story. There’s always so much to learn from words, and during these tough times that’s no different.
We all read for different reasons. Some of us read to escape, some to learn, and sometimes a little bit of both. Whatever your reason for reading is, we’re all in this together. Words connect us on so many different levels, and it’s amazing to see how truly together we are even though we may be physically apart.
I’d love to hear about what you’re currently reading!
I’ve been reading quite a bit lately, and I wanted to put together a list of some of the stories I think you should check out! These are all currently available on Wattpad.
There are a lot of great stories on this list. You’ll find everything from dark fantasies to fluffy romance, and all the wonderful things between.
If you want to get to all of the stories quickly, you can check out my reading list on Wattpad! Or if you keep scrolling, you can see the amazing story blurbs and covers and click the buttons to get to them directly!
WATCHER, AWFrasier

Seth was in his third year of college. Just one more year to go and he would be able to graduate. He liked math and physics, and desperately wanted to study both subjects at the University. He was a quiet guy, didn’t get into trouble, but then he ran into a god, that didn’t know how to stay out of it.
Seth is taken on a whirlwind on adventures that will change his life forever. He just never wanted any of it. He has to face his fears head-on, admit some truths and accept the fact that there’s a parallel magical community running alongside the one he grew up in.
Ticked off angels and gods, Adolf Titsoff and a little trip around the world. One idiot and one genius trying not to get killed and maybe have some fun on the journey.

EARTHWITCH, MiloNelakho

Anele has lived most of her life with the divine beasts of the wilderness, sleeping alongside dragons, wrestling elephants with her bare hands, and hiding from monarch vultures with wings large enough to shade a village. Even when tragedy destroys the nest she called home and literally tears her soul to rags, she gives the mage-filled villages and human nomads a wide berth.
Until the Pettygod catches her scent.
Now pursued by a half-mad, faceless mage whose power is made to brush the heavens, Anele must find a way to fix her damaged soul before he hunts her down and rips it out of her body.
Still reeling from the greatest failure of their life and the loss of one of their beloveds, Wenyanga is ready to give up on their life’s mission. Then a young, ragged witch crosses their path. The first problem they note is that the young woman’s soul has been torn to pieces, held together by sheer will alone. The second problem is that she survived an encounter with a Pettygod. Either problem should have killed her, yet here she is, limping through battle against mages who surpass her in every aspect of the divine arts. Or at least, every known aspect.
That dying spark now slowly flaring, Wenyanga takes up their life’s pursuit again. It is a goal meant to shatter every law of the divine arts, and the shackles uninspired mages put on all magekind with them. But first, Wenyanga must convince the young witch that — with their help — she can not only heal her soul, but do the impossible and kill a god.
But what is impossible when the most ambitious mage in the world mentors a student of law-shattering potential?

Levi isn’t sure what to make of the quiet, enigmatic Vee, but what they soon learn is that in the face of cruelty, the most punk action you can take is kindness. And for Vee, he starts to see that his black-and-white worldview might have to expand to take on shades of pastel.
THE WOLF AMONG US, Van_Carley

Estera grew up knowing one thing: she needs to be a wolf to survive.
As an Enforcer in her community, it’s her job to face off with law-breaking members, but one day, she finds herself flat on her back with a knife to her throat. The defeat comes as a surprise since it means getting beheaded for failing. However, being the daughter of a community leader means mercy, so she’s expelled from the group instead.
Injured and homeless, she crosses paths with Magnus. His community supplies electricity to the entire region, which makes them powerful in the wasteland. Little does he know he just allowed a wolf through their gates because Estera is willing to do anything to survive. She’ll even try to usurp the fortress from under his nose.
AMATORY, glynfrans

Being gay is a curse when the homophobia you grew up with was so bad that you’re homophobic yourself. Especially when you’re into unavailable guys like your roommate, whose girlfriend is everything you’re not (though appearances can be deceiving). So why on earth would you be interested in going out and meeting other guys, who flaunt their sexuality like it’s a gift? No wonder they’re treated like freaks.
SHATTERED WISHES, MakaylaSophia

Scarlet has always been afraid of dying. She decidedly signs her soul over to darkness and strikes a bargain to become immortal. There’s one problem: darkness will demand a favor, and she’s not sure when.
When the devil returns with her soul, he asks for his favor – kill the one you love the most or die immediately.
